Culture: Algerian publishers team up for better distribution

19 April, 12:40

(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, APRIL 19 - There is a strong demand for culture in Algeria which often encounters troubles due to practical problems, for example the difficulty of setting up an effective system for book distribution, alongside a low number of bookshops. In order to tackle this issue twenty Algerian publishing houses (of about the 300 in the country) have decided to join together and use their combined strength to create a company that looks after distribution and promotes books across the nation.

AFP reports that the announcement of the deal was given by Ahmed Madi, president of the national book editors' union, at a meeting which took place during the eighth edition of the national book fair underway in Algiers. (ANSAmed).
