Without conditions from Damascus, says special summit

26 April, 19:22

(ANSAmed) - CAIRO, APRIL 26 - The final draft from the specially-called meeting of Arab League foreign ministers says that the deployment of observers in Syria must be accelerated, in line with the UN resolution. The Arab League has asked Damascus to facilitate the observer mission and not to impose conditions. In the draft, which has been viewed by ANSA, Arab League foreign ministers ask the Syrian regime to allow UN observers to move around and visit towns at any time and not to impose conditions or restrictions that might limit the mission.

The draft also contains a request for Syria not to put pressure on or punish anyone, be it organised groups or relatives, for having contact with UN observers or for supplying them with information. (ANSAmed).
