(ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 26 - A year after adhesion negotiations with Montenegro took off, the European Union expects the Balkan country to speedily enact reform related to negotiation chapters 23 and 24 on justice and basic rights, EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule said Wednesday.

''It is essential that constitutional amendments making the justice system more responsible and independent be adopted'', the commissioner said at a news briefing following today's Stabilization and Association Council meeting.

''The European Commission is aiding Montenegro in this process''. It is time for ''concrete results'', Fule went on. ''Now the real work begins, that of adopting the action plans. We hope for tangible results in terms of the rule of law, which are important for adhesion''. (ANSAmed).
