Italy, France, Greece and Cyprus take part in Med exercises

Starting Wed south of Cyprus in zone seeing tension with Turkey

    (ANSAmed) - ROME, 26 AGO - Joint military exercises in the eastern Mediterranean dubbed ''Eunomia'' began Wednesday south of Cyprus, an area experiencing heightened tension with Turkey.

    Taking part are Greece, Cyprus, France and Italy, the Greek media quoted the defense ministry as saying.

    The exercises will end on August 28 and are part of the Quartet Cooperation Initiative (QUAD). They will include air and surfaces well as search and rescue operations.

    Italy, according to the website in.gr, is taking part with a Durand de la Penne missile destroyer. (ANSAmed).
