15 November, 16:30

(ANSAmed) - ROME, NOVEMBER 15 - The medical emergency in the Gaza Strip is getting worse by the hour, because hospitals can't operate the wounded due to lack of blood, the head of the Palestinian Red Crescent said on Thursday.

Gaza medics have contacted the Egyptian Red Crescent in an attempt to get emergency medical supplies in through the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Strip. Also on Thursday, Arab World Association in Italy (Co-Mai) President Foad Aodi, who also represents the Palestinian community in Italy, issued a call in the name of the Palestinian Red Crescent for a humanitarian corridor to be opened as soon as possible in order to bring supplies and aid to the civilian population trapped in Gaza. Aodi called on Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and on Premier Mario Monti to promote an international humanitarian action. (ANSAmed).
