(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, DECEMBER 19 - Israeli police and army personnel arrested overnight a young Palestinian woman who -according to images from a video that went viral - provoked and repeatedly hit an Israeli soldier who did not react last Friday in Nabi Salih, in the West Bank.

The images show Ahed Tamimi as she repeatedly hit with slaps, kicks and shoves a soldier and his comrade guarding an area in front of the woman's house ''with the intent of prompting a reaction'' while a friend of hers filmed the scene.

Ahed Tamimi isn't new to such episodes: a few years ago - according to media reports - she was filmed while she hit a soldier during protests Friday in Nabi Salih. The woman's father, Bassem Tamimi, defended her behavior, denouncing her arrest last night and accusing soldiers of violence against the family and of seizing computers and cell phones. (ANSAmed).
