(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, NOVEMBER 13 - Islamic Jihad in Gaza described as ''inappropriate'' the discussion now of mediation efforts to end the current escalation of violence with Israel.

''There are no talks on a mediation and it is inappropriate to talk about this, with respect for any Arab effort'', said a spokesman for the faction Musab al-Breim, quoted by Palestinian media.

''When we will have completed the response, it will be possible to discuss''.

According to Egyptian sources quoted by the AP, the UN envoy to the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov arrived in Cairo on Wednesday morning to attempt a mediation to restore calm.

According to the same sources, Mladenov should meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sissi. Egypt, together with the UN, has so far mediated all truces between Hamas and Israel in the last clashes.(ANSAmed).
