Diplomacy on eastern Mediterranean continues

23 September, 17:01

(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, SEPTEMBER 23 - After a thawing of relations with Greece on Tuesday, with the announcement of ''explorative talks'' to be held soon in Istanbul, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues diplomatic contact with the EU and NATO on the tension in the eastern Mediterranean.

On Wednesday afternoon, Erdogan will be speaking in a videoconference with European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and then via telephone with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who in recent weeks has been working to avoid a military escalation between Greece and Turkey - both NATO members.

The announcement was by the Turkish presidents' office.
