EU's Irini not to include migrants disembarking in Italy

Rescued migrants 'to go to Greece'

    (ANSAmed) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 26 - The EU mission Irini, which will patrol the Mediterranean to monitor the UN arms embargo on Libya, does not foresee the disembarking in Italy of any migrants rescued at sea. Any migrants rescued will reportedly be disembarked in Greece.

    This is one of the clauses of the framework agreement reached in the EU which will lead to Irini replacing Operation Sophia.

    The agreement is expected to received final written approval from the 27 member states by the end of Friday.(ANSAmed).
