Serbia-Qatar: improvement of economic relations

20 May, 17:52

(ANSAmed) - BELGRADO/DOHA, MAY 20 - Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Rasim Ljajic met in Doha on Monday with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud to discuss improvements to the two nations' economic relations and the possibility of Qatari companies investing in Serbia.

Ljajic, who is also the minister of trade and telecommunications, said after the meeting they had agreed to sign agreements on economic, technical and trade cooperation and on investment protection.

"We expect very soon a visit to Serbia by officials of the Qatar Investment Fund, who will be presented with projects, mostly in infrastructure and energy, which we would like to see completed," Ljajic noted.

There is interest in Qatar in getting qualified, highly expert workforce from Serbia, because around 50 engineers from the Serbian company Energoprojekt work successfully in Qatar, and another 250 Serbian citizens work for Qatar Airways.

"We think we could increase the numbers of highly expert and qualified people who could work in various positions in Qatar," Ljajic concluded. (ANSAmed)
