Coronavirus: Serbia, no infections among 8,700 migrants

In isolation in reception centres

07 April, 16:09

(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, APRIL 7 - None of the 8,700 migrants in Serbia's migrant reception centres have thus far been infected with the coronavirus, said local commissioner for refugees Vladimir Cucic, cited by the media.

"Our centres have been hermetically sealed for over a month, and no one can enter or leave. And the fact that no one is infected shows that isolation is the best thing," Cucic said.

He said that new migrants who illegally enter Serbia and those who escape from reception centres will be accommodated in two separate structures where they will remain until the end of the state of emergency, avoiding contact with other migrants in the centres in order to prevent infection.(ANSAmed).
