Immigration: 100 Sub-Saharans force their way into Melilla

Spanish and Moroccan border police repel another 300 people

26 June, 18:36

(ANSAmed) - MADRID, JUNE 26 - Approximately 400 Sub-Saharan immigrants tried to force their way into the Spanish enclave of Melilla at dawn on Wednesday, and 100 of them made it through, police sources said.

It is not known if anyone was injured.

Spanish Civil Guardsmen and Moroccan security forces repelled the immigrants as they made a mass attempt to cross the border in an area between Mariguari and Rostrogordo. Today's was the first such attempt in a few weeks. Spanish authorities have stepped up border policing following a spate of such attempts to cross in to Spain from Morocco in recent weeks, all of which had been foiled. (ANSAmed).
