(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, DECEMBER 3 - The US-led anti-ISIS coalition on Monday denied that it hit Syrian government military positions in the region of Homs, as the Syrian government had claimed through state news agency SANA.

Pan-Arab media on Monday morning reported US-led coalition spokesman Sean Ryan said a senior member of ISIS, Abu al-Umarayn, was killed in a missile attack in the district of Sukhna.

The US maintained that the local jihadist leader was responsible for numerous killings, including the 2014 beheading of American aid worker Peter Kassig, who was kidnapped by ISIS in Syria in the months prior to his killing.

The area of Sukhna is located between the Euphrates and Palmyra and is partially controlled by ISIS.

However, it is also patrolled by pro-government forces made up of Syrian government soldiers, Russian soldiers, Iranians, and non-Syrian pro-Iranian militants.(ANSAmed).
