Lebanon, anti-coronavirus plan for Syrian refugee camps

Italian Agency for Development Cooperation involved in plan

    (ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MARCH 12 - The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) will participate in Lebanon in efforts to face the coronavirus emergency inside and around refugee camps in the country.

    On Thursday, the government in Beirut announced an emergency plan to face the epidemic, including in the numerous informal Syrian refugee camps in the country. Lebanon, which has a population of just under four million people, since 2011 has been hosting about a million Syrians who fled the war.

    The Lebanese minister for social affairs announced Thursday morning that the ministry, together with UN humanitarian agencies and numerous international NGOs, has prepared a plan focusing on raising awareness, prevention, and disinfection.

    The government cited AICS as one of its partners in the effort.(ANSAmed).
