(ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, MARCH 12 - More than 20 pro-Iran Iraqi militants were killed in recent hours at the border between Syria and Iraq in airstrikes attributed to the United States, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The strikes come after two US soldiers and one British soldier were killed Wednesday in an attack on a military base in Iraq, north of Baghdad.

SOHR said the missile bombing took place overnight between Wednesday and Thursday in the town of Hayri, south of Abukamal, the Syrian border city where camps of pro-Iran Iraqi militants are located, and said 26 militants were killed.

Meanwhile, local sources in the region of Dayr az Sor, not far from Abukamal, confirmed that on Thursday morning pro-Iranian militants in the area were in a state of alert and placed a curfew on people in the entire district of Abukamal.(ANSAmed).
