Erdogan, Merkel and Macron discuss migrants in video call

On Turkish request for new pact with EU

17 March, 16:04

ISTANBUL - A video conference will be held Tuesday afternoon between Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French president Emmanuel Macron.
The three had set up the call last week to discuss the migrant crisis and the situation in Syria. The Turkish president's office has not yet provided an official time for the video conference but local media reported it was slated for the afternoon. The talks had initially been planned for Istanbul but due to measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, these plans changed. The focus will be on Turkey's request for a new accord on migrants after Erdogan said that the one signed in March 2016 was not longer valid.
