Media: Med area agencies assembly starts tomorrow in Rome

ANSA hosts AMAN fro 3 days by assuming the presidency

(ANSAmed) - ROME, JUNE 25 - ANSA is to host from tomorrow to June 29 in Rome, the 21st General Assembly of the Alliance of Mediterranean Press Agencies (AMAN) of which it will hold the presidency - with the objective of contributing to a greater partnership and a further joining of the north and south side of the Mediterranean. For three days, Presidents, Directors and delegates of the 19 main press agencies of the region will have the chance to meet and confront each other on the changes going on in the countries facing onto the Med, and on the role of the media within these new contexts. On the 27 there will be a seminar organized by ANSA at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Gregoriana University. "Italy for the Mediterranean Region - Information and Development", is the theme of the first round table which is to take place in the Foreign Ministry, with the participaton of the presidents of the Campania Region, Stefano Caldoro, Lazio, Renata Polverini, Calabria, Giuseppe Scopelliti, and Puglia, Nichi Vendola. The seminar will then meet in the Gregorian University, and will have representatives of the Italian Institutions and of the EU commission for a meeting on the theme "Italian Institutions in the Mediterranean Region: Italian investments in the aftermath of the Arab Spring". A discussion will then be held by a panel of RAI journalists and of the main Italian newspapers on the theme: "Communication for cooperation: Information and Multimedia News systems as driving forces for the Mediterranean network." AMAN is made up, other than ANSA, of the following press agencies: ANADOLU, AFP, AMI, ANA, APS, ATA, CNA, EFE, HINA, JANA, LUSA, MAP, MENA, NNA, SANA, TANJUG, TAP and WAFA. The talks of the 21st General assembly will end on June 28 with the official ceremony which will hand over the presidency of AMAN from Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, director general of MAP, the Moroccan Agency, to ANSA's president Giulio Anselmi.(ANSAmed).
