(ANSAmed) - ROME, JANUARY 10 - The fourth section of the Rome Appeals Court has initiated international procedures for the restitution to Tunisian judicial authorities of the assets seized from former Tunisian president Ben Ali. The assets consist of a large sum of money deposited in an Italian bank and a luxury yacht. The investigative activities, coordinated by judge Domenico Massimo Miceli, was carried out after a formal request from the Tunisian judicial authorities as part of the legal proceedings against Ben Ali and his entourage. The Rome tax and excise police identified the yacht and traced the money deposited to the former president. The section of the Rome Appeals Court, presided over by Carmelita Russo, has authorised the restitution of the assets, which is expected to occur shortly. (ANSAmed).
