Italian fencers at 2020 Med Championships in Tunis

    (ANSAmed) - TUNIS, JANUARY 23 - The spotlight is on Tunis for the weekend sports scene. From Friday to Sunday, the 2020 Mediterranean Fencing Championships will be held in the Tunisian capital. The youth event is sponsored by the Mediterranean Confederation and involves all countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

    After the Cagliari edition last year, it will this year be held once again on the African side of the sea and is being hosted by one of the fencing bodies that has always believed in international cooperation through the confederation, according to a statement by the Italian Fencing Federation. The program for the competitions calls for the holding of all six specialities for the under-17 age group on January 24. The following day there will be the under-20s and on January 26 it will be mixed. Italy will be sending 28 athletes to compete: Vittoria Ciampalini, Giorgia Memoli, Arianna Proietti, Federico Colamarco, Francesco Pio Iandolo, Federico Pistorio, Alessia Piccoli, Lucia Stefanello, Mariella Viale, Davide Cicchetti, Francesco Sarcinella, Leonardo Tocci, Lucrezia Paulis, Vera Perini, Vittoria Siletti, Fabrizio Cuomo, Federico Pezzoli, and Paolo Santoro. Coaching staff will include Marco Autuori, Gaspare Faugiana, and Alfredo Rota.

    Leading the delegation will be Vincenzo De Bartolomeo and Matteo Angelelli will provide medical assistance.

    Luigi Petyx will be providing technical support and the Italian referee for the tournament will be Gaia Procopio.
