29 December, 16:14

(ANSAmed) - ANKARA, 29 DECEMBER - Privatization procedures of Ankara's gas distribution company Baskent Natural Gas Distribution started. Baskent Natural Gas Distribution has more than one million consumers and a distribution network of 8,000 km, distributing three billion m3 of natural gas each year. Baskent Natural Gas Distribution is the second most extended natural gas distribution network in Turkey and its licenses are valid until 2037.

The privatization process-as stated in a statement Trade Department of the Italian Embassy in Ankara-started back in 2007; however, the first privatization attempt did not end well.

The company's privatization took place in two steps. The first step includes 80% of shares, owned by the Turkish Authority for Privatization (KIK), while the second step includes 20% of the shares, owned by the Municipality of Ankara. (ANSAmed).
