(ANSAmed) - Istanbul, May 12 - Police on Friday arrested Oğuz Güven, the web editor of Turhish secular opposition newspaper Cumhuriyet.

"I am being taken into custody," Güven said in a Tweet.

Anadolu agency reports that the arrest warrant was issued following publication of an article on the recent suspicious road accident death of magistrate Mustafa Alper, who opened the first probe into the Gulen movement accused by the government of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

Twelve Cumhuriyet journalists and executives including editor-in-chief Murat Sabuncu were arrested over six months ago.

Meanwhile, former Cumhuriyet editor-in-chief Can Dündar, who has been arrested in the past and is wanted by the authorities, has sought refuge in Germany.
