(ANSAmed) - MATERA, NOVEMBER 3 - The "magic" of the reproduction of the Nativity scenes in the ancient neighbourhoods of the Matera "Sassi" (Stones) - already discovered by international cinema - will be repeated this year from December 4 to 8 on the occasion of the sixth edition of the living Nativity, an initiative with which organisers hope to attract 60 thousand visitors (last year they were 32 thousand).

The event, which is another occasion to discover the Sassi "Barisano" and "Caveoso" of the city, European Capital of culture in 2019, was presented this morning by curator Luca Prisco and by Matera mayor, Raffaello De Ruggieri and it will offer another novelty aswell.

Two-hundred period costumes have been rented and vistors will be able to reserve them and wear them becoming themselves part of the Nativity already brought alive by some 300 atmosphere actors.

The route will be the traditional one: from the Barisano to the Caveoso, where the Nativity scene will be played (the idea of realising a Nativity on the Murgia cliffs and therefore visible from afar is also currently being examined). The price of the ticket for the living nativity is 5 Euro, but a ticket costing 3 Euro for a reduced Nativity with less crowd actors (coming from Basilicata, Lazio and Puglia) will also be available during the weekends of December and until the beginning of January.
