Music: Naples rocks! Exhibit while waiting for Springsteen

Rare albums, guitars and section dedicated to Jimi Hendrix

(ANSAmed) - Naples, January 14 - An exhibit on rock music and the artists and musical instruments which made its history has opened in Naples as this southern Italian city is waiting for rock's 'Boss', Bruce Springsteen in the spring. The 'Rock' show opeed on Saturday at the Palazzo delle Arti in Naples (Pan) until February 24.

The annual exhibit has reached its third edition and is also aimed at students in order for them to get to know late rock stars like Jimi Hendrix, who would have turned 70 last November and has a whole section dedicated to him. Among the albums,concert tickets and instruments on display are also Fender guitars, whose sound is connected to the Hendrix myth, and cartoons by Moebius on the US musician.

The show by music journalists Carmine Aymone and Mochelangelo Iossa, the curators, in cooperation with the city of Naples, has a section on Springsteen who will play in Piazza del Plebiscito, Naples, on May 23. The section's title 'Like a vision' refers to the focus on the relationship between Springsteen's music and cinema.

The sections dedicated to Hendrix and Springsteen were made in cooperation with the US consulate in Naples though the exhibit also had as other international patrons the British and Irish embassies with a section for English artist Paul Whitehead, who designed album covers for, among others, the Genesis band. Also in the exhibit is the work by Guido Crpax who designed covers for Peppino di Capri and Renato Carosone.
