Ansaldo Energia wins contract for 170 mn euros in Algeria

Genoese company to provide 340 MW open-cycle gas fired plant

    (ANSAmed) - GENOA, SEPTEMBER 24 - Ansaldo Energia has been awarded a contract valuing roughly 170 million euro for the construction of an open-cycle gas fired plant in Algeria.

    Algérienne Société de Production de l'Electricité (SPE), a subsidiary of the Sonelgaz group, awarded the contract to Ansaldo Energy after an international competition among the sector's most important players, the Genoese company said in a statement. Ansaldo Energia will provide the Ain Djasser III open cycle plant, consisting of two gas turbines of about 170 MW each and related generators, located in the Batna province, near central Algeria, about 350 km south of the capital Algiers. The Genoa-based company has more than 4400 MW of installed power capacity in the country and has been confirmed as one of the leading manufacturers of proprietary equipment in Algeria.
