(ANSAmed) - ROME, NOVEMBER 18 - An important summit on the European cross-border cooperation programme IPA Adriatic is being held tomorrow and the day after in the Croatian town of Opatija.

The Task Force and the Joint Monitoring Committee will meet to discuss the selection process for the European initiative's strategic projects, financing for which totals around 110 million euros. All representatives of countries taking part in the IPA Adriatic CBC Programme will also be present, with co-presidency held by the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) of the host country.

IPA Adriatic involves eight countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Greece and Italy) while Italian regions are present in the shape of Abruzzo (the regional leader of the project), Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Puglia and Molise. The programme has total financing of around 280 million euros and aims to harmonise the Adriatic cross-border area with cooperation in the institutional, economic, cultural, tourism, environmental and infrastructure sectors.
