Cooperation: tenders in early 2012 for Adriatic IPA projects

(ANSAmed) - ROME, 21 NOVEMBER - "The work of the meeting has been successful because they are defining the content of key strategic projects, so we can be ready to launch the tender phase in the early months of the new year." These were the words of the manager of the Adriatic IPA programme, Giovanna Andreola, director of international activities sector of Abruzzo region, to sum up two days discussion about the EU IPA Adriatic cross-border cooperation programme, held in Opatija in Croatia. The Task Force and the Joint Monitoring Committee went to Croatia to discuss the selection procedures for EU Strategic Projects, financed to the tune of around 90 million euros. The event also saw the presence of the European Commission, in particular deputy unit chief, Vicente Rodriguez Saez, and Dr. Fausta Corda also representing the Commission. There were contributions from all the representatives of countries participating in the IPA ADRIATIC CBC PROGRAMME.

IPA Adriatic involves Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Greece and Italy, in addition to Abruzzo, the leader region, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia Romagna, Marche, Puglia and Molise all participate. The programme has a total budget of 280 million euros and aims to harmonise the Adriatic Cross-Border area in the name of institutional, economic, cultural, tourism, environment and infrastructure cooperation.
