(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, AUGUST 14 - The 14th edition of the Hergla film festival, which aims to spotlight African and Med films, will be held August 19 to 22.

The event is being sponsored by the Association Ciné-Sud Patrimoine, with support from the Italian Istitute of Culture, the Tunisian culture and tourism ministry and TV5 MONDE. The focus of this edition is Tunisian animation films and their evolution since the 1960s, with the pioneer of the genre Mongi Sancho, up to the present days with "Briska", the latest work by the young director Nadia Rais.

Rais is considered one of the most important directors of the youngest generation and received an award at the last Fespaco. Hergla will be offering the public 50 films over the course of four days and two afternoons of meetings to discuss the current state and the outlook for the sector in Tunisia, with directors, critics and university lecturers taking part, as well as several training workshops held by Francesca Veneziano to help children understand the art. There will be a special section on Sicilian film on the last evening, August 22, with 7 films to be screened. The idea sprung from collaboration between the Filmoteca Regionale Siciliana and the Animaphix international film festival of Bagheria and will include the screening of Ugo Saitta's "Pisicchio e Milisenda", an 11-minute short black-and-white film.

The actress Claudia Cardinale, who has a large following in Tunisia, will be in attendance on the final evening. (ANSAmed).
