NAPLES - Sicilian cuisine, tourism and wine culture will be at the center of this year's Mediterranean Cooking Congress, an event held in different areas every year to promote typical Mediterranean products and sustainable cuisine. This sixth edition will be held October 28-30 for the first time in Sicily, in the city of Taormina. It will be coordinated by Pietro D'Agostino, from the La Capinera restaurant and always in the front line for the promotion of his native territory in an attempt to create synergies in Italy and abroad. The three-day event in the shadow of Mt. Etna will include B2B, cooking shows and guided visits to the archaeological attractions of the territory as well as wine tours. Among the appointments on October 29 will be a conference entitled 'The Sea and Fishing, from Protection to Productivity' with high-ranking maritime authorities and such well-known restaurants as Pinuccio La Rosa from Ragusa, to which Michelin has assigned two stars. There will also be cooking shows focusing on sustainable cuisine held by chefs that are part of the Associazione Le Soste di Ulisse and other ones of renown.
A special event will also be held on famous pizza makers from the Campania and Sicilian regions for 'Pizza delle Due Sicilie'.
Among the tastings will be Salina capers, pasta, almond milk, high-quality meat from the Mediterranean, fior di latte mozzarella and Sicilian wines selected by the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier.
