(ANSAmed) - ROME, OCTOBER 3 - The Euro-Mediterranean Ideas Festival opens in Perugia on Thursday with a seminar on the Arab Spring uprisings titled New Media on the Borderline of Truth.

It will be followed on Friday by a round table on gender stereotypes and female emancipation as a power for economic development in the Euro-Mediterranean area. Participants include European Parliament Vice President Gianni Pittella, and Italian Senate Vice President Emma Bonino via video linkup. Also on Friday, attendees will debate the state of affairs in post-Arab Spring Maghreb countries in a conference titled Med in Future: Towards Constitutional Transitions in Mediterranean Countries. Maltese Ambassador Carmel Inguanez, the Moroccan embassy's plenipotentiary minister, Sidi Mohammed Fadel Dadi, and Prof. Kosta Barjaba from the Mediterranean University of Albania will be present.

The festival is promoted by the Perugia municipality, the city university, and the Umbria region. (ANSAmed).
