(ANSAmed) - ROME - Twitter has launched #Museumweek from March 24-30, a week-long showcase dedicated to the most beautiful museums in the world. The most important museums in Europe are involved, from the Louvre to the Prado, from the Tate to the Reina Sofia. In Italy, the system of museums under Roma Capitale (Rome), the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the MUSE of Trento and the Palazzo Madama in Turin are also taking part.
#MuseumWeek "will directly connect people with museums, works of art, history and science, in a new interactive way, allowing direct access to a number of Europe's main museums, and for people to see behind these realities," explained Twitter. "In addition to interacting and involving followers, #MuseumWeek will supply participating institutions all the necessary tools for reaching a new public and take part in a much wider dialogue," Twitter added. The week will consist of themed days aimed at guiding the conversation, which everyone will be able to follow through the hashtag #MuseumWeek.
It concerns "an unprecedented project, conceived to diffuse new content, showing 'behind the scenes' in the life of a museum, and interacting with the public following a different theme every day, always using the hashtag #MuseumWeek," explained Rome's Musei in Comune (Museums in the city), which with its 48,000 followers has the leading online profile among Italian museums. Basically, there will be a week of virtual open days that will follow a specific calendar. The launch on Monday, March 24 begins with a "A day in the life of a museum" ('What happens in the museums when they are closed to the public?').
The March 30 closure will encourage creativity offering a day in which the public is invited to bring into play inventiveness and the desire to tell stories.
The Musee D'Orsay, the Chateau di Versaille, the Fundacion Dalì and the Musee Picasso are among the museums involved on a European level. (ANSAmed).
