(ANSAmed) - NAPLES, APRIL 29 - Alessandro Rak's 'The Art of Happiness' will be competing for Best Feature Film at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, the most important European event of its kind. The festival opens on June 9.

The film proved a success at the Venice Film festival and was named Best First Film at London's Raindance Film Festival.

It was also the only Italian film at India's International Film Festival and its director was a candidate for Best Director at the Cartoon Movie festival in Lyons. 'The Art of Happiness', produced by the Naples-based MAD Entertainment, has met with critical acclaim at the Los Angeles, Stuttgart, and Brussels festivals, where he won the audience's award for Best Feature Film. ''We are happy to represent Italy in Annecy, a competition that is the equivalent of Cannes for animated films,'' said Luciano Stella, producer of MAD Entertainment, which won the Best Production Company award at Venice's last Cartoons on the Bay. ''This candidature represents one more step towards changing the common perception Italians have of animated films, which can be a groundbreaking new tool for cinematic storytelling.'' The Annecy festival begins on June 9 and will transform the city into the capital of animated films for six days, with over 7,000 accredited professionals in the sector from over 80 countries and over 500 film screenings.(ANSAmed).
