TUNIS - The curtain goes up Wednesday in Algeria on the 3rd edition of the Annaba International Mediterranean Film Festival, running through March 27 with 10 feature-length films and 10 documentaries from 10 Mediterranean countries.

The films will compete in various categories for awards including the prestigious "Anab d'or", with a jury headed by French screenwriter Jacques Fieschi.

This edition will also see the participation of Belgium as a guest of honour, with seven films out of competition, as well as the supervision of training workshops in documentary filmmaking and techniques in sound recording, editing and filming.

The festival's theme is "An Eye on Palestine", with four films on the Palestinian cause, while another series of films is dedicated to Algerian writer Mouloud Mammeri.
