(ANSAmed) - ISTANBUL, APRIL 28 - The International Ankara Jazz Festival is not stopping due to the coronavirus emergency but will be broadcast online. The concerts of the 24th edition of the event running from April 30 until May 10 will be broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Jazz Society of Turkey (https://www.youtube.com/user/ankaracazfestivali), including some live performances.

The event, which is also organized in partnership with the Italian embassy in Ankara, is inspired by the idea of jazz as an expression of democracy and freedom.

''We think that jazz is a form of democratic art. Jazz musicians contribute to the music on stage, they listen to each other, open a space for others and ensure that their voices are heard in the same way'', said the event's curator and the president of the Jazz Society of Turkey, Ozlem Oktar Varoglu.

''Now that the world is showing us a new definition of freedom, we all understand the meaning more clearly than ever. We hope to soon return to live concerts but until then we invite you to enjoy our online music festival''.

The opening concert, organized in collaboration with UNESCO and the Herbie Hancock Jazz Institution, is scheduled on April 30 on International Jazz Day. A total of 20 events are on the festival's agenda.(ANSAmed).
