FLORENCE - Andrea Bocelli will inaugurate the new headquarters of his Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) in Florence on 24 January in the San Firenze complex, which will also include a laboratory called 'ABF Globalab' to incentivise and guide young talent.

The focus will be on young people between the ages of 16 and 25, said a representative during a press conference.

The headquarters will host workshops, conferences, and cultural events, including the projection of still and moving images on the facade of the San Firenze complex.

'Globalab' has the support of important figures such as UNESCO deputy director general Stefania Giannini, businessman Mike Ferry, Florence Mayor Dario Nardella, orchestra conductor Beatrice Venezi, singer-songwriter Giovanni Caccamo, and artist Max Frieder.

ABF turns 10 this year and at the online press conference to present the new headquarters of the foundation, Bocelli recalled how the idea for the Foundation came about.

"After my wife Veronica woke me up in tears having heard about the tragedy of the earthquake in Haiti, I realized there are situations in which from afar the heart begins to beat and needs to do something," he said.

"Having here the foundation that bears my name is for me a source of great satisfaction and pride because I believe that education holds the hope for tomorrow. In this period, education is showing how important it is. I hope that many talented young people will take inspiration from what we have here. And that they can achieve all of their dreams," he said.

ABF President Stefano Aversa said the new 'ABF Globalab' will be "a place of commitment and growth for young people".

"It will be a place where they will be able to learn and express their highest potential," Aversa said.

For the inauguration, Bocelli will perform, for the first time, the great classic by Narciso Parigi and Claudio Villa "Firenze Sogna".
