Crisis: Cyprus' house sales drop 44% in January-February

(ANSAmed) - NICOSIA, MARCH 13 - House sales in Cyprus, with the exception of the coastal city oh Pafos, plunged by 44% on an annual basis in the first two months of 2013, figures released by the Department of Lands and Survey show as Famagusta Gazette reported. Sale contracts submitted to the Department declined to 727 in January and February 2013 compared with 1,289 in the corresponding period of 2012, marking a reduction of 44%.

Cyprus-wide contracts for January 2013 declined by 53% year on year reaching 375 compared with 803 in January 2012, whereas house sales in February reached 352 compared with 486 in previous year registering a reduction of 28%. In the capital, Nicosia, sales plunged by 75% in January reaching 46 compared with 182, whereas February house sales declined to 59 compared with 148, marking a reduction of 60%. (ANSAmed).
