(ANSAmed) - MADRID - Tourism continues to be the driving force behind Spain's moving closer to an exit from its economic crisis. Since the beginning of the year, 54.3 million foreign tourists came to the country. This figure is expected to result in a record high at the end of the year, with a 4.3% increase in 2013. The tourism ministry's Frontur office reports that there were 5.5 million tourists in October, a 6.9% increase on the previous year. The office noted that the figure marked a record high for the first ten months of the year. Nordic countries and Great Britain accounted for the bulk of the tourists. The national statistics institute noted that hotels charged 0.2% less in October than they had in the same month in 2012. (ANSAmed).
