(ANSAmed) - MADRID, FEBRUARY 19 - The six-year economic
crisis has widened the income gap between Spain's richer North
and the poorer South, new data showed Wednesday.
''The crisis not only increased inequality between people, but also between regions'', a Savings Banks Foundation study said.
More industrialized northern regions, such as the Basque Country, Catalonia, Madrid, and Navarre weathered the recession better than Andalusia, Castille-La Mancha and Estremadura. In these southern regions, the economic downturn has hit the hardest, bringing standards of living well below the national average.(ANSAmed).
