(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 25 - MK Fintel Wind has officially launched its third and largest wind farm - Koava in Izbite, in Vojvodina in northern Serbia. With a total capacity of 69 MW, it will produce enough electricity for 45,000 households.

Attending the inauguration together with Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic, the Italian ambassador to Belgrade, Carlo Lo Cascio, said that plant is the result of a fruitful collaboration between Italy's Fintel Energia and Serbia's MK Group. He stressed that it is the ''perfect example of the great economic cooperation between Italian and Serbian companies''.

''Our partnership - added the ambassador - is now widening to renewable energy''. ''Along with the attention for green energy, Italy is also giving another strong message: we will continue to invest in Serbia because we believe in the shared growth of our common work. We are here to stay and to continue to work together''.

Italy, noted Lo Cascio, is the third producer of renewable energy in Europe: some 800 wind farms last year were produced in Italy 17 Terawatt-hour, enabling to save some 21 million barrels of oil.

The ambassador spoke about the great importance of economic cooperation, which is one of the ''main pillars of the excellent relations between Italy and Serbia'', which this year celebrate 140 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership. Italy, he said, is Serbia's second commercial partner with exchanges worth four billion euros and Italy is among the main foreign investors in Serbia with about 600 firms that employ over 30,000 people.

MK Fintel Wind, a joint venture of Italian company Fintel Energia Spa, and MK Group d.o.o., was founded in 2007 and is one of the first companies in Serbia to produce ''green energy'' through aeolian energy and solar panels. Currently, MK Fintel Wind is the most significant investor in the field in Serbia with projects worth 300 MW. (ANSAmed).
