Libya's National Oil Company resumes output at Zueitina port

May soon reopen El-Sharara oil field

    (ANSAmed) - TUNIS, SEPTEMBER 23 - The Libyan National Oil Company (NOC) announced that it had resumed production and exports from the Zueitina port and Zueitina Oil Company fields on Tuesday.

    The NOC noted that a security assessment of the Zueitina port and oil fields had been conducted and that it had been found that enough of an improvement in the situation as concerns security had been seen to enable it to resume production and exports.

    The Zueitina Oil Company is a major supplier of Liquefied Natural Gas and is also an important source for coastal lines, enabling other operator to supply file to power stations north of Benghazi and Zueitina, "alleviating the suffering of the inhabitants of the large city of Benghazi and its suburbs and providing clean natural gas on a regular basis,'' the company said.

    The ports of Hariga, Brega, and Zueitina have been classified as safe ports, the NOC said, underscoring that the country's other oil fields an ports are being assessed in terms of security.

    Sector experts said that the NOC could soon announce the reopening of the large oil field El-Sharara, once the issue of the presence of Russian Wagner mercenaries inside the facilities is resolved, as the NOC had previously spoken out about.
