Blue Economy: course for Med officials on development coasts

    (ANSAmed) - NAPLES, SEPTEMBER 10 - Boosting the ability of stakeholders to develop and implement integrated policies in the management of coastal areas is the aim of a course organized in Bari by Ciheam, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute. The course is aimed at 15 representatives of agriculture ministries in countries including, along with Italy, Albania, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Turkey.

    The course is funded by Italian cooperation and is held as part of activities by FAO. It vies to boost the ability to understand the Blue Economy of officials from several countries.

    The main areas of study are fishing, water culture and the sustainable development of coasts, in particular tackling management, the technical and legal aspects as well as administrative themes. The course started yesterday and will end on November 16. The objective is for participants to be able to identify by the end of the course the strengths and limits of the sustainable developments of coasts and promote fishing as well as tourism. Objectives include putting officials in a position to understand ecological models and evaluate the state of marine resources, increasing the value of fish products on the food market and managing threats to the environment.(ANSAmed).
