Conference on importance of Umayyad dynasties in Cordoba

    (ANSAmed) - MADRID, OCTOBER 30 - The importance of the Umayyad dynasties of the seventh to eleventh centuries in Cordoba and Al-Andalusia in general will be the focus of an international conference in Cordoba's Casa Arabe from November 2 to November 4.

    Experts from Spain and around the world will take part. 'The Estates of the Elite in the Muslim West and Sicily: Power, Production and Pleasure' is the theme of the series of 16 conferences of specialists using a multidisciplinary approach, Casa Arabe sources say. A vast amount of written sources exist on and archaeological research has been done on residences built by Umayyad emirs of caliphs, such as al-Rusafa and al-Naúra, as well as Cordoba dignitaries in the ancient Andalusian capital. The experts will discuss the theme from the archaeological, architectonic, historiographical, art history, Semitic philological, hydraulic, and botanical perspectives, among others. (ANSAmed).
