(ANSAmed) - TUNIS, MAY 20 - The 6th edition of the International Poetry Festival in the Tunisian seaside town of Sidi Bou Said will take place June 14 through June 16, in three days of peace, poetry and music.

The festival, which is dedicated to poetry but is also open to other literary forms and music, is over the years becoming the most important festival of its kind on the southern shore of the Mediterranean.

This year's programme boasts a long list of prestigious guests, hosted in the magnificent natural setting of the Arab-Andalusian-style village of Sidi Bou Said. The readings by artists from various parts of the world will take place in evocative corners of the village, accompanied by music or performances by actors.

Italy will be represented by the Bolognese poet Francesca Serragnoli, thanks in part to a contribution by the Italian Institute of Culture in Tunis.

"The words of poetry, said seriously, are always a gift that men exchange freely, reminding themselves of each other and reminding themselves to each other," Serragnoli told ANSA.

"I am honoured to participate in the International Poetry Festival of Sidi Bou Said, and thank the organisers and supporters who still have faith in this genre, an underground wellspring of salvation," Serragnoli said.(ANSAmed).
