(ANSAmed) - FLORENCE, JANUARY 11 - Over 50 events including exhibits, lessons, concerts, awards and literary initiatives have been organized to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death. The website with all the initiatives organized by Florentine institutions who have joined the organizing committee is now live.

They include 'Alberi In-Versi', the show dedicated to Giuseppe Penone which the Uffizi will host for the 2021 celebrations. The exhibit includes the installation in Piazza della Signoria in Florence of two juxtaposed trees, a clear reference to Dante's overturned tree. The Fondazione Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has scheduled three initiatives: a reading of the Divine Comedy at the Goldoni theater, a concert production directed by Riccardo Muti in three key cities for Dante (Ravenna, Florence and Verona) in September 2021 and the commission to Luca Francesconi of music dedicated to Dante which will be performed at the inauguration of Florence's new auditorium and will be directed by Zubin Mehta.

'La mirabile visione. Dante e la Commedia nell'immaginario simbolista' (Amazing vision. Dante and the Comedy of symbolic imagery) is the name of the show at the Bargello museum dedicated to the perception of Dante's figure in the literary context of the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum also organizes another event dedicated to the relationship between Florence and Dante from the years right after the poet's death (1321) until the mid-1300s.

The Accademia delle Arti del disegno has created an award for artists under 40 who will have to be inspired by the theme of Dante's exile. (ANSAmed).
