(ANSAmed) - AMMAN, DECEMBER 20 - The Islamic State (IS) on
Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack south Jordan, near
Kerak Castle that lead to the killing of 10 people and injury of
30, according to Jihadists media.
Speaking through its propaganda machine, al Amaq news agency, IS said the attack was carried out by its members, but did not give further details on their identity and targets.
Meanwhile, Jordanian security arrested several men and women from cities of Kerak, Aqaba, Zarqa and other parts of the kingdom as part of ongoing investigation into the attacks.
Security sources said the arrests are routine measures to shed light on the incident and to find if there are other accomplices in the attack.
Bodies of four attackers killed during clashes near Kerak castle are believed to be held by police awaiting relatives to claim them for burial. The government said it would bury them on its own if families did not come forward to demand the bodies.
