(ANSAmed) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 7 - Israel has carried out an air strike against a chemical weapons plant in Syria, Syrian and Lebanese media report.

The Syrian army has confirmed Wednesday night's attack, saying it was carried out against "a military plant near Masyaf" in the Hama region and that two soldiers were killed.

The army warned against the "dangerous repercussions of these hostile actions for security and stability in the region".

"The Israeli fighter planes fired several rockets from inside Lebanese airspace," it said.

The attack "follows the victories against ISIS and shows Israel's support for the terrorists". The Observatory for human rights in Syria reports that two military sites were attacked.

One was a scientific research centre and the other a neighbouring military base. (ANSAmed).
