BEIRUT - The first course by Italian UNIFIL troops for Lebanese armed forces on protecting themselves against unexploded ordnance (UXO) and improvised explosive devices (IED) has been held in Shama, southern Lebanon. The course was held on the base hosting the Italian-led West Sector command of the UN force along the border with Israel.

The instructors from the Combat Support Battalion, on the base of the 8th Regiment of Sapper Parachutists, with support from the military working dog unit, conducted the activities with both theoretical and practical phases. The aim was to provide the necessary preparation to reduce risks to forces operating on the ground and to know how to deal with incidents.
