Death toll rises to 12 in Majorca flooding

After recovery of bodies of two Germans, one child still missing

    (ANSAmed) - MADRID, OCTOBER 11 - The death toll due to heavy rains and flooding on the Spanish island of Majorca in recent days has risen to 12, following the recovery of the bodies of two Germans who lived on the island and had gone missing.

    Spanish Civil Guard sources cited by national broadcaster RTVE said the German victims were were Petra Kircher, 63, and Mike Kircher, 61.

    They went missing on Tuesday evening and were found near the town of Artà.

    Rescue teams are still working to find a five-year-old child who went missing on Tuesday evening while he was with his mother and eight-year-old sister, who were blocked in a car during the torrential rains that fell on the town of Sant Lorenc.

    The boy's mother died after managing to get his sister to safety, but she didn't manage to save the boy and he is still missing.(ANSAmed).
