Franco-fan arrested for planning to kill Spanish PM

Did not want dictator's remains dug up

    (ANSAmed) - MADRID, NOVEMBER 8 - A man who had been planning to kill Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez in retaliation for the PM's intention to exhume the former military dictator Francisco Franco's remains was arrested in recent weeks.

    Investigative sources announced the news on Thursday to Publico. The man had asked for help in a private chat on Whatsapp.

    Manuel Murillo Sanchez, 63, a private security guard and expert sniper with no previous criminal record - has been charged with planning to kill an authority and illegal weapons possession. He was arrested by the police in Terrassa, near Barcelona. Some 16 weapons were confiscated in the man's home, including ''four rifles of the highest precision, capable of hitting a target 1,000 or 1,500 meters away'' and submachine guns.

    Two pistols were found in his car, including a modified illegal one. The inquiry started after the man asked for help in a Whatsapp group, saying that he was willing to ''make a sacrifice for Spain''.(ANSAmed).
