al-Qaeda leader injured in attack in Idlib, Al Arabiya says

    (ANSAmed) - BEIRUT, FEBRUARY 20 - News is circulating on pan-Arab media that the leader of the Syrian wing of al-Qaeda, Abu Muhammad al-Julani, was injured in northwest Syria, but the information cannot be independently verified on the ground.

    Pan-Arab broadcaster Al Arabiya said the leader of Hayat Tahrir ash Sham (Organization for the Liberation of the Levant), a coalition of groups affiliated with al-Qaeda operating in the Idlib region in northwest Syria, was injured on Monday in a double attack in the city of Idlib. Local sources said about 20 people were killed in the attack, but al-Julani's name only appeared on Wednesday as one of the injured.

    Sources cited by Al Arabiya said al-Julani is being treated in a Turkish hospital in the region of Hatay, which borders Idlib.(ANSAmed).
