TUNIS - The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Wednesday that 35,000 people have been displaced from Tripoli and the surrounding area due to armed clashes, in an update on the situation.

It said the UN and its humanitarian partners are closely following the situation of 30 people who were injured and are now hospitalised after suffering abuse in the Qasr Ben Ghashir detention centre, which hosts about 890 migrants and refugees.

The World Health Organization (WHO) in Libya said the victim toll in Tripoli has risen to 272 dead, 1,272 wounded.

It said it is working with its partners to ensure that primary healthcare structures have the supplies and resources they need to assist displaced families.
